“I think that all athletes would benefit from an easy device that allows them to monitor their hemoglobin. Hemoglobin carries oxygen, so knowing what those numbers look like is an advantage. There’s also a big advantage to anybody going to altitude for training camps for periods of time. I found that once I got into the routine of testing morning and night as well as pre and post workouts, it was very easy. I was able to see my hemoglobin on a regular basis and see the effects of altitude on my body.”

“Regarding my elevation training, I know A LOT more than I knew before. I think it will take a few trials to say for sure what is perfect for me as an athlete, but there’s no doubt I know more, and the longer I use the device, the more I learn. Ember is ideal for endurance athletes attempting to maximize their training and allow their bodies to reach their potential. It takes a lot of the guesswork out of altitude training as data compiles over time.”

Lewis Elliot, 35, has represented the U.S. in multiple World Championships during his decade as a professional athlete. In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Lewis is a successful model, actor and author. Lewis has been an Ember user since spring of 2015.

Adam (born October, 25, 1986) is always looking for the next challenge to push the limits of his body. In the spring of 2016, he ran across the U.S. in 60 days, attempting to beat the (at-the-time) 46-day world record. An injury on day three slowed Adam down, but hardly stopped him (he averaged 45 miles a day, covering a total of 2,484 miles, and ran more than 76 miles in just one day of the journey). He began using Ember for his cross-country feat to better understand his body.

Adam has a long list of running accomplishments, including setting a course record with his 1st-place finish in the 2015 Gobi March 250km race (through four deserts). He’s originally from Minooka, IL and now lives in Tahoe Vista, CA with his high-school sweetheart and wife, Karen.

The hemoglobin and pulse rate measures would let me know if overtraining was negatively impacting my training routine. In those instances, I would divert more attention to cross-training and other measures of improving endurance without running myself into injuries."
